German artist Georg Jahn was one of the greatest etchers to hail from the Dresden region. His works, produced during the early 20th century, are impeccable examples of the delicate and skillful art of etching. He grew up in a family associated with the Meissen porcelain factory and at the age of fourteen, he started painted porcelain miniatures there. His talents were recognized and he was awarded a scholarship to attend the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. He enjoyed a long career as a painter and print maker producing some 350 etchings.
