In the late 1970s, Michael created three works with this model laying on a bed. This colour study, a colour pencil drawing entitled ‘On the Bed 2’ (1977) and a further pencil drawing for the Joy of Gay Sex (Silverstein / White), also from 1977. This colour study was not realised into a finished painting. The picture features in the book by Patrick Bade, Michael Leonard, Painter and Illustrator, 2021 (Peter Owen Publishers) at p.172.
