Cadmus was an American artist known for his satirical paintings, drawings, and prints of American social life, often using the classical technique of egg tempera. His work, which combined realism with social critique and eroticism, frequently caused controversy. His work is contained in many public collections, including the Whitney Museum & Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
